My choice of the new Elizabethan

What is the new Elizabethan?

The term 'new Elizabethan' refers to an individual, or a group of people that influence society in one way or another. Some people can be classed as the new Elizabethan by the way they dress and look and also by what they do, but some can be seen as the new Elizabethan in how their choices affect others, e.g. politicians.

My choice of the new Elizabethan is Barak Obama.

A little about the man him self

Born on August 4, 1961, in Honolulu, Hawaii, Barack Obama is the 44th and current president of the United States. He was a civil-rights lawyer and teacher before pursuing a political career. He was elected to the Illinois State Senate in 1996, serving from 1997 to 2004. He was elected to the U.S. presidency in 2008, and won re-election in 2012 against Republican challenger Mitt Romney. President Obama continues to enact policy changes in response to the issues of health care and economic crisis.

Obama is a good representation of the new Elizabethan. He is the first black president in a country where racism has played a big part of its history. Obama, just like Elizabeth the1st, came to power against all odds and with him came change. For once black people gained more hope and not just black people, everyone who felt like a minority gained more hope. Like Elizabeth did, he has a lot of power in the world and what he does matters to people. If he meets with other influential leaders, we know about it and if he says anything in public, the world is told about it.  Obama might not be as fashionable as Elizabeth was but everyone in the word knows who he is. Unfortunately, just like Elizabeth, his life is not his own. His image is always being ether protected by his people or destroyed by the opposition. But that is just the word of politics. Obama will not go out as the virgin queen but he will go as the first black president in a land where it was once unheard of.
