Elizabethan contemporary practice look 2

For this look I wonted to play a little with bright colours to give the look that contemporary fill and look to it. The colour I chose was yellow and red. This look was inspired by the previous Elizabethan contemporary look I had tried out as a practice and is posted in one of the previous blog posts.  For this look I kept the foundation and the eye makeup the same as done in the previous look. I also removed the eyebrow completely, to create that high forehead. The one thing that is different about this look is the use of very bright yellow lip colour and the red in the center of the lip.

Looking at the end look, I fill like the yellow and red centered lip overwhelms the whole look. If anything it makes my lips look very big.  The lips have taken the attention away from other parts of the face that has an Elizabethan fill to it, like the lack of eyebrow. However I do think the look is very bold and contemporary.

After I finished this look I decided to change the lips to red and yellow/gold centered. The end result for that look was much better and reflected better on the Elizabethan look.

Also the use of white mascara on the eyelash gives the look a more contemporary look to it.

I have decided to stick to the red and yellow/gold lip look for my final design. However there is still more that can be done and will be done to make the look even better. Therefore more practice with my partner and more discussions.

elizabethan contemporary look Research and practice

Here is an image I found in the Alex box book. At fast glands of this look, one can see the Elizabethan makeup; Everything from the very pale skin and the thin pencilled in eyebrow that have been drown on top of the covered eyebrows, to the plash of pink cheeks and lip.

The look however has been made contemporary by the makeup on the eyes and the black used on the sides of the lips. Also the freckles seen in this look would have been something the Elizabethans would have covered, but in this image the freckles are not fully covered, making it a contemporary Elizabethan look.

This look has inspired me to create my own version of the look.

For this look i used a pale foundation on half of the face and my normal skin tone for the top part. for the cheeks i used pink blusher and i applied it on the apples of my cheeks. for the lips i used the same colour as the cheeks to crate a stained lip look.

This look that i created is a good representation of the Elizabethan contemporary makeup. The pale face and the red cheeks and stained lips is more Elizabethan, the top part is what makes the look contemporary because the eyebrow is very visible and also the foundation used is worm.

It was fun creating this look.

My choice of the new Elizabethan

What is the new Elizabethan?

The term 'new Elizabethan' refers to an individual, or a group of people that influence society in one way or another. Some people can be classed as the new Elizabethan by the way they dress and look and also by what they do, but some can be seen as the new Elizabethan in how their choices affect others, e.g. politicians.

My choice of the new Elizabethan is Barak Obama.

A little about the man him self

Born on August 4, 1961, in Honolulu, Hawaii, Barack Obama is the 44th and current president of the United States. He was a civil-rights lawyer and teacher before pursuing a political career. He was elected to the Illinois State Senate in 1996, serving from 1997 to 2004. He was elected to the U.S. presidency in 2008, and won re-election in 2012 against Republican challenger Mitt Romney. President Obama continues to enact policy changes in response to the issues of health care and economic crisis.

Obama is a good representation of the new Elizabethan. He is the first black president in a country where racism has played a big part of its history. Obama, just like Elizabeth the1st, came to power against all odds and with him came change. For once black people gained more hope and not just black people, everyone who felt like a minority gained more hope. Like Elizabeth did, he has a lot of power in the world and what he does matters to people. If he meets with other influential leaders, we know about it and if he says anything in public, the world is told about it.  Obama might not be as fashionable as Elizabeth was but everyone in the word knows who he is. Unfortunately, just like Elizabeth, his life is not his own. His image is always being ether protected by his people or destroyed by the opposition. But that is just the word of politics. Obama will not go out as the virgin queen but he will go as the first black president in a land where it was once unheard of.

Taming of the shroud. Which characters are more reflective of the New Elizabethan?

Catherine is extremely abrasive in her dealings with everyone, both in Parliament and her personal life. Her sister Bianca couldn't be more different -- a popular model whom everyone loves. Bianca's long-time manager wants to marry her; in order to put him off she says she won't marry until her sister is wed (a prospect she knows will keep her safe.) So her manager arranges his friend -- who is a titled Earl -- to meet and marry Kate and the battle is on

Directed by divide Richards. Inspired by William Shakespeare play and played by Shirley Henderson.

1.Catherine also known as Cate: reminds me of Queen Elizabeth. I say this because of the fact that she is a woman in a man’s world; Also the fact that everyone want’s to marry her off in order for her to make it as a prime minister. Her dressing also kind of refracts Elizabeth mostly because of the colour (black) and the fact that her cloths represent power yet showing a little cleavage.

2.Bianca Catherine sister: she reminds me of Elizabeth in that she loves her self. In her apartment there is lots of pictures of her everywhere, something Queen Elizabeth did, (she kept portraits of herself and she also had to approve of any portraits painted of her). Also Bianca is the idea of beauty in this film/play. Just like Elizabeth her beauty is what people see as beautiful. Her fashion is very classy and what one would expect rich women to wear. Everything from the white far all the way to the royal blue colour in her bathroom represents a contemporary Elizabethan woman.

3.Mrs Manola, Catherine’s mum: her fashion is very wealthy, everything from the silk dresses she wears to the purls. This is something a lot of wealthy women would wear. This makes her a good representation of a modern Elizabethan.
